From a folding crate to the Eurobox

It all began with a small folding box for fruit and vegetables. This first folding box sparked a steady stream of new ideas and products for the international retail market. Working alongside European designers and local manufacturers, we have steadily expanded our range ever since.

Today, we are one of Europe’s leading suppliers of Euro-sized plastic boxes and supply 1,200 stores in the national and international DIY sector – thanks to you and your requirements.

2009

Foundation & Market Launch
Surplus Systems is founded and launches its first folding boxes onto the market, focusing on fruit and vegetable logistics.

2012

Expansion of the product range
The portfolio is being systematically expanded with new product lines – particularly for the DIY sector and the non-food warehousing and logistics sector.

2016

The Bekuplast Group enters the market
The Bekuplast Group acquires a majority stake in Surplus Systems. This move further strengthens the Group’s capacity for innovation in the plastics sector.

2017

Professionalisation of the DIY sector
Introduction of a clear category management system for our DIY customers, enabling us to manage our product range and marketing in a more targeted manner.

2019

Bekuplast Group
Surplus Systems is being taken over in its entirety by Bekuplast. The company will remain based in Bonn, but will benefit from the parent group’s network and resources.

2024

Market leader in the DIY Eurobox segment
With 11 employees and 4 million Euroboxes sold annually, Surplus Systems is the market leader in Germany in the DIY Eurobox sector.
